Brief History:
The Bestul/Borgen and Jones Families are linked through the marriage of Paula Dahl to Doug Jones in 1977.
Paula's family names on her mother's side are Bestul (Luther) and Borgen (Magda). The Borgen family came to the United States from Norway before 1898 settling in Minnesota and then moving to Washington State in 1907. The Borgen line comes from Verdal Muncipality in Trondelag County Norway.
The Bestul family arrives in the United States from Norway prior to 1860 settling in Wisconsin with Rev. Jonas Bestul eventually moving to Washington State. Paula's mother, Laura was born in Poulsbo, Washington. Laura had in her possession two large 19th century photo albums that have Bestul and Hoyard family pictures along with many that are not identified. The Bestul family will come from the Skien Municipality in Telemark County Norway.
The Borgen family is also related to the Moe family. Magda's sister Gustava will marry Olger Moe, the sister of Marie Moe, wife of Alfred Dahl and mother of Harold Dahl.
